The Vacation

Last week while I went to the Outer Banks for a vacation, Izzy and Eddie spent a week with their friend, Buddy, helping him guard his house. I am not sure that he appreciated their efforts, but I know that they had fun. Witness this photo of a clearly happy Eddie....

2011 almost over and i'm glad

It's been a long time since I posted. Maybe I'll have more to say now. This has been quite a year. I was diagnosed with cancer in January but as far as I know, after surgery, chemotherapy and radiation, it is gone now. I'm still recovering from the "ordeal" but I'm ok. In the middle of it, I also lost my sweet Teddy which was the absolute low point of the year. Two months later, I adopted Eddie and he has brought new joy with him. He is a funny little man I am still getting to know. Here's hoping 2012 will be a year of health, happiness, friendship, love, fun, peace and all things good.

Ode to Teddy

Teddy is a thoughtful dog (as well as instinctual of course).  Sometimes I don't know what he's thinking about, sometimes I do.  He often thinks about food, squirrels, Izzy, and food. Some of his best thoughts are about me - where I am if not with him, am I going to feed him soon or maybe take him for a walk.  But he also reads my moods - if I'm happy, he's happy and if I'm sad, he does his best to turn that around. His love is unconditional (to a fault).  I just thought I should tell you, in case you didn't know.  In case he's barked at you - he'd want you to know he's sorry. I can vouch for him - Teddy is a good boy.

Kaia's story

Kaia came to visit us and told a story about Izzy. We think it is special. We love you Kaia!!

Happy New Year!! It is winter. It is cold and snowy. We like snow. It makes us happy. We do not so much like hats but it wasn't our choice if you know what we mean. She means well. We hear this is a big year. New decade, whatever that means. New beginnings, whatever that means. All we really care about is our walkies at the park and snuggling with our mama and of course foods in our bowls. And we like to play. And nap. Beyond that, we want all of our friends, furry and otherwise, to be healthy and happy, safe and warm.  We miss our friends who are far away, and wait to see the ones who are near. So take care, be safe, stay warm, and know you are loved.

Doris the Downy

This very silly little bird has come to live in our backyard in a birdhouse made for a chickadee that has been ravaged by another bigger woodpecker that made the big hole that's under the little hole. It's a mess! I named her Doris after my former supervisor who loved to pass the time with inane activity.
